Lakshmisha Bhat was born in South India, in the village of Madageri near Gokarna, into a modest Brahmin family. For nearly two decades he worked alongside Guruji Sharath Jois.
Following his deep interest in Ashtanga yoga, he began his asana practice under the guidance of Guruji Sharath Jois. In parallel, he earned the title of Vidwan in Advaita Vedanta philosophy at the Sanskrit College, and in 2006 he completed a master's degree in Sanskrit at the University of Mysore.
At Guruji Sharath Jois's invitation, Lakshmisha joined the KPJAYI shala in 2003, where he began teaching Sanskrit, chanting and yoga-related theoretical subjects to the ever-growing number of practitioners who came to Mysore from all over the world to deepen their yogic knowledge.
Over the years, Lakshmisha has taught hundreds of yoga aspirants. He is convinced that yoga cannot be complete without a proper understanding of the theory behind it, and he strives to pass this knowledge on to every sincere seeker.
