THE FLOW OF VINYASA – JUMP-THROUGHS AND JUMP-BACKS

THE FLOW OF VINYASA – JUMP-THROUGHS AND JUMP-BACKS

Please note: This workshop will be held in Hungarian. If you are interested in English-language instruction, please contact us to enquire about private lessons.

In our tradition, vinyasa is a sequence of movements connecting the asanas and synchronised with the breath. Conscious technique creates the rhythmic, effortless flow of asana practice.

O YOGI, DO NOT PRACTICE ASANA WITHOUT VINYASA!

So goes the instruction attributed by the Ashtanga tradition to the Yoga Kurunta. According to the story, the palm-leaf manuscript was destroyed by ants, and after Krishnamacharya no one was able to access it. The teaching, however, lives on, passed down from teacher to student and from practitioner to practitioner.

The ease of jumping

Jump-throughs and jump-backs are among the greatest challenges of vinyasa. In this workshop, we will break them down into their key elements, helping us identify the areas that require further attention and practice.

During the workshop, we will:

  • Explore the fundamental movement patterns of jump-throughs and jump-backs.

  • Examine the relationship between the direction of movement and the pattern of the breath.

  • Experience how the expansive and uplifting qualities of the breath complement its integrating and stabilising qualities.

  • Practise preparatory movements and progressions.

  • Explore the role of weight transfer and core stability.

  • Learn methods that will help you continue developing these movements independently after the workshop.

The aim is to gain a deeper, practical understanding of how vinyasa works: less unnecessary effort and a more effortless flow between asanas.
